The Clinical Research Unit 5024 “Immune checkpoints of gut to brain communication in inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases (GB.Com)” is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and represents a comprehensive framework, which aims to define the interactions between the gut and nervous system along the gut-brain axis in immune-mediated inflammatory and degenerative diseases. We offer the opportunity to be integrated into a dynamic research network and to perform research under the supervision of leading scientists in the field.

In the context of the inter-organ communication between the central nervous system and the gut, the here announced research project aims at describing the link between intestinal epithelial homeostasis and neurodegeneration in Parkinson disease.
